Next,
Sunday May 4th
YouSpoke.org presents … Not Alone
(click on the picture for tickets & more info)

YouSpoke is a great organization,
I’ve performed with them numerous times over the past couple years
& unfortunately,
This will be the last time in Chicago for a while, due to their move to LA..
So pull on through & help support a great cause!
Here’s a little insight into YouSpoke too..
Their mission:
“YouSpoke.org is a not-for-profit organization that cultivates a community for those deeply affected by suicide by offering them a creative outlet to share their story.”
What they do:
“We believe that expression, not silence, heals the soul, and we encourage this conviction in every form of art – prose, film and video, music, dance, graphic design, painting and visual arts, culinary, interactive media, sculpture, poetry, textile, and so on. As we create an online art collective focused on open-source communal healing, we also promote suicide awareness within the community through public speaking, dance exhibitions, art showings, yoga classes, running teams, demonstrations, and other various creative projects.”
Hope to see you there!

Nooooooooooow,
I’m not trying to go alone,
Sooo.. Is anyone down to check this tomorrow!?

If you know me,
You know De La Soul is one of my favorite Hip Hop groups of all time!
Therefore,
I’m a fan of De La’s DJ
Maseo (aka) Pase Master Mace
I had the pleasure of seeing his set
& meeting him at The Shrine some months ago,
So I def approve of his sets,
Which has to be at an even iller level with Phife on the Mic!
(though that is a pretty random combination)
But anyways,
HOLLA IF YOUR DOWN!
Oh & while I gotchur attention,
I got really into these Red Bull Music Academy Lectures last summer..
They just dropped two gems recently..
(click on the pictures for the videos)
One from Maseo

& one from Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest

Check the technique & I’ll catch y’all this weekend!
One Love,
Nico
